Guide To Dahua Mounting Equipment
Mounting cameras is an important part of any security install to ensure that they will ‘stay up’ safely and securely over their lifetime.
In this blog post, we’ll be explaining and exploring the mounting equipment for Dahua’s range of cameras and show you how to identify the correct model for the series of camera you’ll be installing. Firstly though, lets take a look at the different types of mounting equipment available.
Mounting Equipment Types
Bases / Junction Boxes
Cameras bases / junction boxes can be either round or square, with holes that match up to the bottom of the camera so they can be attached. They provide much needed protection from both vandalism and inclement weather, protecting the cables that run from the camera to the recorder (NVR/DVR). Most Dahua junction boxes are rated to IP66 / IP67 which protects against water ingress. The nature of the cables being within the base also protects them from being cut by would be intruders.
Wall, Pendant & Top Mount
In some situations, you may need to mount a camera from the ceiling, or the camera is configured in such a way that directly mounting to a wall would cause the camera to be ‘sideways’ and so a wall bracket is required.
These mounts provide a solution where an ‘arm’ provides an overhang with which to mount on. Dahua provide an abundance of adapters to suit most camera series for this type of mount.
Swan Neck Brackets
Swan neck brackets do ‘what they say on the tin’. They provide an arcing neck to allow for the unobstructed mounting of large PTZ cameras so that they can rotate a full 360 degrees, providing a full view of the scene.
Corner & Pole Clamp Brackets
In some situations, the only suitable place to mount cameras may be either on a freestanding pole, or on the corner of a building.
The pole mounts feature either large jubilee style clamps that are tightened until they are snug on the pole or heavy duty style brackets with nuts and bolts used as a tightening mechanism.
For corners, the face of the mount is similar to other standard brackets, but features ‘ears’ at 45 degrees so that the mount can be secured on each side of the wall before the corner.
In Ceiling Mounts
In-ceiling mounts are a great solutions for when space is tight and a flush install of a dome camera is required.
These mounts sit inside the ceiling cavity, with a ring that sits flush with the ceiling itself, hiding the camera’s main body.
Identifying The Correct Model
Now we’ve taken a look at the different types of mounts available, we need to know how to select the correct mount for the camera being installed. Luckily, at Intelligent CCTV, we make this easy for you by listing the compatible accessories on each camera listing but if you’re ever in doubt, the process is as follows:
Determine Camera Series
Each Dahua camera is assigned a part code made up of identifying information. Part of this code denotes the camera series. For example, the following camera part code for a 2MP Dome is as follows:
IPC-HDBW3241EP-S
The section of this code we are concerned about is after the letters IPC (which stands for IP camera). These are ‘HDBWXXXEP’ – this is the camera series. Other series include HDW-EMP, TP/TLP, VF, SD and so on.
Match Camera Series To Mount
Now we know the series of the camera, we can match it to the correct mounting equipment. On each of our product listings for our mounts, we note the applicable model. So, all you need to do is key in the series of the camera into the search bar at the top of our site (in this case, HDW-EP) and the search will bring up all compatible mounts.
As well as this, you can also use Dahua’s accessory selector which allows you to ‘build’ your kit from matching parts and download as a PDF. You can then send this PDF to us and we’ll generate a quote for you.
